What is Seva?
Seva literally means service. It is defined as selfless service; work offered to God or to the spiritual Master, performed with love and without concern for its benefits. Work performed with an attitude of nondoership and without attachment. Seva is one of the four cornerstone practices of Siddha Yoga, along with meditation, chanting, and dakshina.

Quote from Gurumayi Chidvilasananda:
“You always want something from the actions you perform, or else, through your actions, you want to have an effect on another person’s life. You spend your time measuring the difference between your intention, your effort, and your reward. You always have a private agenda, an ulterior motive for the things you do, and you scarcely ever catch a glimpse of what it’s like to be released from that burden. That is why it is said, without great merit, you cannot even come close to offering your service and without blessings, you cannot achieve the state of heart that allows you to function selflessly.”
